Realizing her life long dream of owning her own horses, our designer, Barbara Creager, has been active in the exciting world of carriage driving. Typically, the whips, as the drivers are called, wear formal or fancy hats in the show ring. This interest has drawn her to the age-old art of millinery. Her enjoyment of both carriage driving and design work are now melded into Babette's Hatworks.
Barbara's life work has involved many aspects of creative applications. Including, but not limited to; watercolor, pen and ink, jewlery making, and silversmithing to name a few. She has also had experience in the fashion, fabric and fiber industry. Working as a design consultant for a drapery manufacturer led to large scale fabric applications for liturgical celebrations in churches. An accomplished seamstress, she has done tailoring, upholstery work and quilting. Her love for animals introduced her to Angora rabbits. That took her in the obvious direction of spinning, weaving and knitting, which she still actively pursues.
